We all know how important a good nights sleep is for our overall health. It allows our skin to recover, as well as the rest of our body, but there are other things to consider when you sleep that can affect your skin health, like the fabric you sleep on.

  1. Wash your bedclothes

It's important to routinely wash your sheets to avoid skin irritations from allergens and microbes. Many who suffer from allergies, often suffer from dermatitis too, which means it is important to ensure you don’t sleep where there are known allergens.

 

  1. Choose detergents wisely

Have you looked into the detergents you use to clean your bedclothes with? Many detergents contain surfactants and artificial fragrances that can be harsh on sensitive skin causing skin rashes and irritations. You will need to rule out if any laundry detergent that may be causing your skin irritation. Test a few detergents that are more natural and use fewer surfactants or chemicals. Determine which one(s) reduce your skin condition.

 

  1. The type of fabric you use.

The type of fabric you sleep on can have an impact on your skin condition. Like the laundry detergent, you need to trial which fabric suits you better. Some people find bamboo better than cotton, as it is antibacterial and breathable, keeping the skin cool and dry. Another option is to purchase sheets made specifically for those with skin conditions like eczema.
